The Porsche 911 Carrera T: Less weight to enjoy more behind the wheel
It was an open secret that Porsche was working on the development of a simpler and more pure version of its 911. Today they have made official the launch of Porsche 911 Carrera T, a very interesting version that attends to this approach in which less is more.
The 911 T revives the spirit of the identical surname of 1968: it has a lower weight, the transmission ratios of the manual box are shorter and features rear-wheel drive with mechanical self-locking differential. Apetecible, right?
Differences From a ‘Normal’ Career
The 911 Carrera T, whose letter ‘T’ is used for tourism, has the same six-cylinder, three-liter bóxer engine with a double turbocharger of 370 hp and 450 Nm of torque, identical figures to those of a dry race.
The biggest difference between this model and the 911 Carrera, is in the specific equipment of this, as it comes standard with the PASM sport chassis as standard, a lowered height 20 mm, and the Sport Chrono Package with its subsequent weight adjustment.
With regard to the options, this has the optional rear axle available, something that does not exist in the normal Race.

1,425 kilos of weight
Another of the differences regarding a 911 Carrera, is in the weight. This version applies the concept of less is more, to reduce weight and thus improve the weight / power ratio.
For example the rear window and the rear sides are made of a lighter material. It has also reduced the number of elements of mechanical sound absorption, because it is assumed that the lover of a 911 T will appreciate hearing the characteristic sound of its 911.
Another element that draws attention, is the suppression of the posterior seats , which can be ordered optionally. On the other hand for the opening of the doors are used leather handles.
Porsche Communication Management (PCM) is even possible without a gap. The two front seats are 20 kilos lighter than in a 911 Carrera, and have a specific upholstery.
Less weight, better performance
The 911 Carrera T accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in 4.5 seconds (0.1 seconds faster than the 911 Carrera Coupé) and reaches 200 km / h in just 15.1 seconds. If equipped with the optional Porsche Doppel Kupplung (PDK), the Carrera T reaches 100 km / h in 4.2 seconds and goes from 200 km / h in 14.5 seconds.
The Porsche 911 Carrera T can already be ordered from the dealers and the first units will arrive in the month of January. Its price is 124.259 dollars for the manual and the version with double clutch PDK, will cost 124,010 dollars.
