How To Find A Trustworthy Auto Body Shop

If you’ve recently gotten into a fender bender or are simply looking to do minor repairs on your car, you don’t want to trust just anyone. When it comes to finding top-notch car repair services, it’s not enough to Google “auto body shop near me richmond.” While many options might spring up, you still want to make sure you’re not trusting a service shop that cares more about saving your insurance company money than about doing a great job on repairs. Sadly, it can be difficult to find places that put the customer first. However, not all hope is lost. If you want to find a reputable place that will take your car concerns seriously, here’s what you should do.

Check Certifications

Even if an auto body shop looks legitimate, you can never be too sure. That’s why you always have to make sure the shop and its workers are fully certified and licensed to be doing the work they’re doing. If you don’t, you could end up putting your car in the wrong hands. While choosing a place that isn’t certified doesn’t immediately spell doom for you and your car, it might mean that you’re not getting the benefit of truly experienced professionals who have had the proper training. While there are exceptions to this rule, it’s generally best to only trust places that proudly feature a manufacturer certification.

Ask About a Warranty

Your car hopefully came with a factory warranty that entitles you to get free non-collision repairs up to a certain point. But did you know that repair jobs can also come with warranties? One of the best ways to tell whether or not a shop is to be trusted is to ask about warranties for a repair. Having a warranty means that should the same problem come up again, you’ll be able to take it back into the shop at no extra charge. This is a way better option than having to keep shelling out for essentially the same repair, and most reputable shops will offer a warranty with no questions asked.

Get Multiple Estimates

You always want to shop around before deciding on a place to take your car, especially if you’ve just moved to a new place and you don’t have anyone trustworthy to ask for recommendations. One way to set up an easy hierarchy of options is to ask about estimates for the same job. While the difference in price might not be too large, it can still tell you a lot about the body shop you’re working with. For instance, if you’re working with your insurance company, they’ll probably want to send you to a place that won’t charge them a ton of money for a repair. However, this doesn’t necessarily mean it’s the best selection.

Read Reviews Carefully

Customer reviews online can be a helpful tool for people who are unsure about their options. But these reviews will only help you make an informed choice is you read them carefully and assess both the negative and positive aspects. Don’t just go with a place because it has 4 stars on Yelp. Read the critical reviews rather than totally ignoring them.
